How to write your Sankalp

A Sankalp is a short, heartfelt intention. Here’s a simple way to write yours — and examples for every focus area. If it’s for someone else, write it in their name (e.g. “Riya is calm and healthy”) or in the first person as if they were speaking.

Six simple steps

1

Write it as already true

Use the present tense — “I am”, “I have”, “my body is”. Speak as if it is already happening, not something far away in the future.

2

Keep it positive

Say what you want, not what you fear. Instead of “I am not anxious”, write “I am calm and steady”. The mind holds on to the picture you give it.

3

Make it personal and specific

Name the area of life and, if it helps, the detail. “I sleep deeply and wake rested” lands better than a vague “I feel good”.

4

Add the feeling

Include the emotion you want to feel — calm, safe, grateful, confident. Feeling is what makes an affirmation come alive.

5

Keep it short and repeatable

One or two clear lines you could say in a breath. Short affirmations are easy to remember and to return to.

6

Choose words you can accept

Pick phrasing you can believe, even a little. If “I am wealthy” feels far, “money flows to me more easily each day” is gentler and still true-feeling.
